In 2014, The New York Times looks more like an upscale AARP newsletter, and everyone is getting the news from a media behemoth called Googlezon, created by a merger of (what else?) Amazon and Google.
That's part of the plot of EPIC 2014, a video "what-if" that got plenty of buzz a little over a year ago. This year's students, who may not have seen it yet, should take a look... and listen to the related interview I've linked to the word "buzz."
Next, come back to the present and read these two Times stories... then go "Hmmm..." That reminds me to check more often to see what EPIC co-author Robin Sloan is saying, check out EPIC's 2015 sequel, and find out what he's up to lately at current.tv. (Among other things, the home of Google Current.)
And... if all of that Flash storytelling has tired you out, get your energy back with Feds After Google Data (Mercury News) and Google Resists (NYT), then wash it down with some ACLU Pizza.
