Post Toasted: E&P Announces Eppy News Web Awards
Awards were presented in 32 different categories for excellence in online media, both for design and for content... In the category of Best Overall Newspaper-Affiliated Internet Service with more than 1 million unique monthly visitors, Washingtonpost.com
took top honors. In the category of Best Overall Newspaper-Affiliated
Internet Service under 1 million unique monthly visitors, the Roanoke.com was the winner. (Editor & Publisher)
In an example of features that don't fit in the print edition, the Washington Post took an award for "Best Internet Community Service Effort"for its interactive database of every recorded vote in House and Senate since 1991. (It's searchable by state, year or individual, and linked to an RSS feed of recent votes. Learn more here.)
Post-affiliated sites Slate.com and Newsweek.com were also among the winners.
I didn't notice any Tennessee award winners (OK, I was in a rush), but the under-1-million version of the Best Internet Community Service Effort award landed not too far over the mountains in Winston-Salem at JournalNow.com, for an early 2005 feature, "Unsafe Haven: The Crisis in Home Health Care."
Elsewhere, what do Lawrence, Kansas, and Madrid, Spain, have in common? Top-notch Web designers, according to the Eppy judges:
Best Overall Design of an Internet Service over 1 million: ELPAIS.es (Madrid)
under 1 million : Lawrence.com
