The late songwriter Kate Wolf used to sing about how "Everybody's lookin' for the same thing... it's plain to see: An old Chevy, a bass player and a country house on six acres with six bedrooms, absolutely free..." Well, maybe it was only three bedrooms, unless someone was setting up a commune. Could be.

After all, she was describing a supermarket "things wanted" bulletin board back in the pre-Web '70s. (I wish she were alive today to update the song for the Craigslist era.)

In a less material sense, what are we looking for today? Google knows, and tells:

My holiday blogging was even more sparse than I expected, but I did make a good start at my transition to putting bookmark-style blog entries (or blog-style bookmarks) online with del.icio.us. I hadn't done much with "tagging" in the past because before "tags" really caught on, I had started using my blog software's "category" feature ot define separate blogs like AEJMC Newspaper and Podfolk.

The del.icio.us tagging tools for Firefox made the process relatively painless, but I haven't fully committed to putting all of my bookmark collections on a for-free website, no matter how well established. But del.icio.us certainly would be a better tool for organizing and updating lists than that old site of mine.

Anyhow, now that I have more than 125 pages bookmarked with del.icio.us, some patterns (and a lot of overlap) are beginning to emerge in my "cloud" of tag topics:
