For a post-mortem analysis of a Halloween assignment in using specific details in descriptive writing, I sent students to the Nov. 1 video at Rocketboom to be spectators at the New York City Halloween parade.
I liked the duet costumes myself. One thing I learned... Andy Warhol's 15 minutes of fame -- at least as a recognizable face -- may be past. Students just didn't know his face (hair, shades). Marilyn and Mona did better than Andy -- or Leo. And written descriptions of this snapshot from the video will reveal which students know a palette from a palate from a pallet...
Someone else was dressed as an iPhone, not to be confused with a homophone...
