-- and even learn how to do some of it

The New England News Forum has put together a 90-minute "training and informational video" from the proceedings of a workshop last month at the New England Press Association.

Titled "Rebooting Your Newsroom: Adding blogs, podcasts, citizens and the web," the video is housed at Archive.org for free streaming or downloading at various resolutions.

From the archive.org page, here's the program:

* Beth Lawton, manager of digital strategies, Newspaper Association of America, shows examples of newspaper sites' best practices and previews NAA's "Online Community Cookbook."

* Steve Garfield, a pioneering Boston-based videoblogger and correspondent for the daily videoblog Rocketboom.com, on his latest experiments as a live-broadcast cell-phone-powered videographer.

* Jeff Potter, editor and publisher of the Shelburne Falls (MA) Independent on interactivity at a weekly newspaper's website.

* Jennifer Ward, interactive editor at The Fresno (CA) Bee on its "invention convention."

* Mark Potts, blogger, consultant to Philly.com, founder of BackFence.com and former WashingtonPost.com executive on users as source.

* Cody Howard, news director, 6-News, a cable station owned by the Lawrence (KS) Journal World, on a citizen-media training academy.

* Steve Fox, journalism professor, Univ. of Massachusetts, Amherst, on blogs as a link with readers and users.
