This might be a good article. I want to read it, but I don't have time right now, so this is a bookmark. [kuro5hin.org]

At church we've been studying the Holy Trinity. So I noticed in this morning's reading in Galatians an interesting trinitarian passage. Paul is teaching about Christ as the fulfillment of the promise to Abraham, saying in verse 20 that the promise "was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator", refering to Jesus Christ. But then he seems compelled to add in a clarification, "Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one." I believe this clarification is necessary, because Jesus as mediator implies divinity. Usually a mediator is a third party, so that would imply two Gods. Paul, anticipating that conclusion, wants to makes sure that you remember that God is one. This is the primary truth, and although he doesn't explain how, he doesn't want let the deity of Christ negate that primary truth.
