Auto-discovery of mySubscriptions.opml. Things are really moving along! I just spoke with Dave Winer. It turns out that, by enabling uploading of mySubscriptions.opml, there already is a canonical XML representation of my feeds, suitable for harvesting. This is unrelated to radio.macros.blogroll, it turns out.  ...

Ugo Cei: I actually have two RSS feeds, one is RSS 0.92, the other one is RSS 1.0. Thus I've put up two links... Will this work? Enquiring mind wants to know. [via Sam Ruby] ...

RSS auto-discovery and meta-linking. I've implemented Mark Pilgrim's final version of the RSS auto-discovery technique, inspired by Matt Griffith's proposal. A small change in Mark's Radio bookmarklet seemed to be needed, from indexOf(application/rss+xml') to indexOf('application/rss+xml'), in order to be able to subscribe in Radio to sites using this technique. ...

Personal RSS aggregators, and a personal note about BYTE. Here's my final column for BYTE.com, on personal RSS aggregators. Pardon me while I wax sentimental for a moment. It has been a long and meaningful relationship. ...

Mark is upto all sorts of interesting things with referers and blogrolls
3:02:05 PM

Justin and Brad are discussing building a .NET aggregator / blogging tool. Why don't you start with Aggie, rather than starting from scratch ?

LOL, from the pocketSOAP.com refferer logs -  http://referers/are/easy/to/fake/

Re-pro instructions for what appears to be an IIS bug. It'd be great to hear from you if you get the same behavour

Cool, I see Apache HTTPD on Windows can handle ISAPI Extensions

Can anyone clarify how HTTP/1.1 persistent connections and authentication interact ? I thought the authentication header would apply to that request only, but with IIS, it seems to authenticate the connection, subsequent requests to the same URI on the same connection don't need the authentication header.

There's now a FAQ for PocketSOAP

Security. The May 27, 2002 issue of eWeek contains four articles on web-services security. This one by Timothy Dyck illustrates the issues by getting into the differences between the competing standards, SAML and WS-Security. [Doug Kaye: Web Services Strategies]

Beyond Backlinks: Inspired by Jon Udell's recent articles, I've written a forward looking update to Manufactured Serendipity, focusing on new ways to manage the experience. [Sam Ruby] You've probably already seen it, but more good stuff from Sam.

Joe seems interested in my idea so I played with Visual Studio’s Add Web Reference wizard to see how it handles link elements. It looks like it just looks at the first "alternate" link with type='text/xml'. This could be a problem for sites that want to link to both types of documents. [matt.griffith] This shouldn't be a problem going forward, as DISCO is dead, and WSIL [which replaces it], uses a meta tag instead.

Matt Griffith: Do any RSS aggregators use the HTML link element? [via Joe Gregorio: Ideas, Ideas, Ideas] This sounds like a fantastic idea. Specifying the location of your RSS feed in a standard machine-readable format would solve a real problem. [dive into mark] Seems like a great idea to me, I've added it here.

Doug Kaye on ebXML ..... "IBM and Microsoft still aren't committed". Given that Microsoft aren't supporting SwA, seems like they don't care much for ebXML [which uses SwA]

Lots of hits for QuakerSoap in the UserAgents report, but can't find anything out about it, Google turns up nothing.

SOAPBuilders F2F next week, I'm plugging away at the new HTTP/1.1 transport for PocketSOAP, hopefully I'll have it wrapped up [or at least close] by then.
