Summary: I am hoping to generate discussion on knowledge-making, using this photo as a starting point.

It's obviously an old photograph. I don't have any more information other than that it was pulled out of the"no description available" bin of the Oceanographic and Meteorological online photographic archives.
It appears that each person is fixed upon, if not necessarily staring at, an artifact.
With that said:

  • please make any observations, guesses, comments, etc. that occur to you while you look at the photo and think about knowledge-making.
  • Jot your ideas down. Even the obvious [to you] may be a surprise to others!
  • Length of response is up to you.
Whether or not you relate other content to the photo is also up to you.
After 20 or more individual responses concerning the contents and knowledge-making I will summarize. We might surprise ourselves with the results of our collective consideration.
