There was an AARP commercial on just now. I'm mostly paraphrasing:
['Cops'-like montage in the background.]
Narrator 1: "The war on drugs has cost the US government $75 billion in the last five years alone... [other stuff]"
[Pan out to show two older people eating dinner off TV trays and watching the TV with the drug war 'commercial']
Narrator 2: "There's another kind of drug war in American: the war over affordable prescription drugs... [other stuff] Know where the candidates stand and vote on November 5th."
[AARP logo]
Narrator 2 (exact): "This is a drug war we can win."
"This is a drug war we can win"? The first thing I thought of was, "Holy crap, the AARP is saying that the war on illegal drugs is unwinnable."
My second thought (like 15 minutes later) was, "Maybe it's 'we', as in AARP members, can win the fight for affordable prescription drugs even though we can't contribute to the war on illegal drugs."
What do you think when you hear, "This is a drug war we can win"?
