> I am scared

The last time I was this scared about the state of world was during the Gulf War. After the blitzkrieg success of the war, I wondered why Bush did not advance on Baghdad. IRAQ's WOMD were not destroyed and Saddam was still in power.

Now, many of the same folks from the 1st Bush admin want to take over a country and build a new nation. Without working with the U.N. and without diplomatic negotiation.  Most of IRAQ's WOMD were destroyed btw. 1992 and 1998 and Saddam has less influence in the region.  But if Bush invades Iraq, I do not understand how that reduces terrorism.  Any terrorist has left Iraq months ago. Okay, I am much more scared then the last time...

Time for what? War? Why?

> Preparing for World War III.

I heard yesterday a rumor that we'd be at Code Red by Friday. We're merely Code Orange right now. The likelihood we'll feel terror is high. Paranoia is policy now. Stuff that would have been front page news three years ago is passing quietly by.

We're in diplomatic meltdown. This war we're already waging will have unintended consequences all over the place, most of them bad. It can get like that when you're hellbent on performing a lesser evil, even when it's for a greater good.

I'll have more to say about the mess soon enough. Meanwhile, I'll point to the thoughts of Michael Ventura, Eric Olsen, James Fallows, Hal Crowther, George Lakoff, Mitch Ratcliffe, David Weinberger, Public Conversations and others as the day goes on.

Says here we should be listening to BBC Radio 5. Here's the Gatwick grenade story.

A post using Tim Knip's GrooveInteropRadio Tool... Let's see if this works, now that Tim is updating the tool every day (it seems).

> How to Save the World - THE LONELINESS OF OF THE NEW BLOGGER.
Great ideas! Read it and use the ideas that work for you!
<quote>
So what can the new blogger do to salvage his (or her) self-esteem when, like the guy that sets up a snazzy new office, sends out flyers and then sits by the phone wondering why no one is calling, his brilliant new blog flounders at the bottom of the page-reads list, unloved and, worse, unread? I've advised start-up businesses how to bring new products to market, and, although the blogger has a lot less money at stake than the entrepreneur, here are a few ideas that may work analogously for start-up bloggers:
