I noticed a very interesting statement very often in the last days in some open source communities: "I don't care if someone votes -1 on this, I'm the one doing the job, all others are only talking, so I decide what's right and what's wrong." Of course these were not the exact words, but the sense is the same. The question is now: Is this alarming? Or is this good?
I personally thing that this is more good than alarming. Some open source communities tend to debate for weeks over a topic and after the thread is finished nothing is really achieved. Noone is able (or willing) to do the job discussed in the thread and many too many opinions/options are available.
And sometimes it's much better someone does something instead of endless discussions. And if someone knows what he does, it's ok. But of course, one should put it more "politically correct" than saying "I don't care about a -1".
Just follow some discussions in some open source projects and you will see what I mean :)
