Dog saves mistress; bites flasher
Okay, you know about the Florida thief who got his manhood scrapped by a police dog (and for a pack of cigarettes, no less). In St. Albans, a really stupid flasher went after a woman with a dog, and well, all's well that ends well,(except for the flasher, who got more than he bargained for)...
The hole that brings dead dogs to life
What kind of water do they drink in Ellensburg, Washington. Locals report stories of a hole that revives dead dogs, emanates a 'black beam [light?]' and, as practical matter of life, served as the area's bottomless dump; supposedly, it measures more than 80,000 feet deep....

The real question is: how do we stem the tide of discarded pets when people grow weary of them. Maybe all shelters should charge ...

Malamute innocent on drug charges; put down anyway...
Although it was clearly the owners who were responsible for allowing their dog to run loose, and it was their missing ecstacy that prompted one of them to claim that their dog was just high on drugs, a judge sent it to its demise. Even so, some people are up in arms about the injustice of condemning the purebred (Animal welfare advocates plead clemency for dog).
American Kennel Club sends Puppy Protection Act to dog house
In a victory for breeders who opposed the Puppy Protection Act because "no hearings were held, no debate occurred" and no discussion of "puppy protection issues and enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act" took place, the House-Senate Farm Bill Conference has dropped the PPA from its final bill...
