Dogs at play while you work all day: everyone wins You love your dog, of course. So treat your pet to doggy day care. It's inexpensive, especially if you arrange to prepay a month or so in advance. (You can work out a discount that way). And even one day a week will make a big difference in your dog's outlook on life. A bored dog is not a happy dog.

In the DC area, there are an abundance of doggie day care facilities. Clever Dog Day Care, in Silver Spring, Maryland, specializes in learning games for dogs and they can accommodate dogs of all sizes. We treated our dog to day care frequently, until we learned he had arthritis and needed a hip replacement. While you're at work, your dog can learn socialization skills and practice his good dog training. A good dog is a tired dog...

Dog neutered by stray bullet Washington, DC. A woman let her mixed breed pitbull out of the house, heard gunshots, and later retrieved her dog from Animal Control. Since a bullet was lodged in its testicle, they had to neuter it.

Rose, the beloved dalmation, passes on Rose, the much dog who reigned supreme at the Inn at Little Washington died...

Humane Society Dinner Fundraiser

Washington DC. The Washington Humane Society will hold its annual Bark Ball at 7 p.m. May 18 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, 2660 Woodley Rd. NW. Attendees are invited to bring their dogs.

The black-tie event will include dinner, open bar, dancing to '50s music by the Fabulettes and a silent auction. Volunteer dog walkers will be available, as will edible treats and water for the dogs, which must be leashed, licensed and vaccinated. Tickets are $200 per person and benefit the society, which operates the city's two primary animal shelters.
