Muting that barking dog Some companies market ultrasound generator collars as dog silencers. The collar will emit a sound, audible only to the dog wearing the collar, which is so unpleasant that the dog will stop barking, after learning his bark activates the sound.
While such a collar may work and work well, it may not be the best solution for a barking dog. Dogs will bark at intruders (not a bad thing); out of boredom (find the dog something to do) or to get the owner's attention. Excessive dog barking can be retrained.
