Eat cats in New Zealand, dogs in Korea New Zealand A plan proposed by a bureacrat in New Zealand recommends making it a New Zealand tradition to eat cat stew. The councillor thought of the idea when she learned that cat registration was too expensive to enforce. Other countries have come up with odd plans to diminish their unwanted animal population as well: that crazy Australian plan to get rid of dogs The idea didn't go over well... so now the councillor says it was all a joke.
Instead, another idea is being considered: have a "shoot cats day" sort of like the "shoot dogs day" that Borneo residents hold to get rid of their stray dogs. New Zealanders are concerned about the diminishing bird population due to cat overpopulation.
