I was also thinking yesterday about how sound is simply choreographed energy, as I was checking out, what at the time, was a pretty cool interactive use of Flash (still pretty cool, but I can't help thinking that we're focusing still on too much glitz, too little relevance, like how cool it was to send ASCII pictures back in the day), replete with sounds erupting and colors flashing at the click of a mouse, and something I recently read in the Wall Street Journal (summation NOT mine - I get the print version) about Ben and Jerry's using a soundwave powered freezer, that requires no gases other than helium. Holy moley - what if we discover that helium audio freezers permanently raise the pitch of people's voices? Will we have another Rachel Carson writing a groundshaking book, Screeching Spring? While I'm not that worried about it, how much do I really know about helium? 12:02:59 AM ![]() |
