p4rss - a baby hack

CVS2RSS. CVS2RSS This is, of course, what RSS was invented for: Kellan's CVS 2 RSS - it generates an RSS feed of...

Another victory for RSS as a generic content/data format.  Jon Udell had been speculating about RSS expanding into things like bug reports, support tickets, etc.  For those not familiar with CVS, it's a very popular open source configuration management and source control system for software development.  RSS and RSS viewers are a great way to get a consolidated view of new builds and changes in a software development process.

[Jeremy Allaire's Radio]

Very true. FogBugz has RSS, I think. Also JIRA will have SOAP and RSS soon. Probably what will happen is: As applications become more service oriented i.e. utilize web services (as in SOA not just SOAP or XML-RPC), Blogs and RSS will become dominant user interface for these new applications. Blogs may be the final answer to web-based GUI.

Anyways I just hacked up a Perforce RSS generator "p4rss".  It's a baby step towards intertwingularity.
