memex, MyLifeBits, etc

Your personal Panopticon.

Anil Dash suggests the creation of one's own personal pantopticon. One could use portable, mobile devices to snare and share audio, visual, and textual information, then aggregate the stuff in such a way as to be searchable, archived, and wirelessly accessible - like a moblog. Questions of security lead directly to DRM, alas (perhaps).

Via Play with the Machine, I found these links for memex, MyLifeBits and Agent Franks.  I am not sure if I want to record everything I do, say, see or listen (after all playing back the recording will be waste of time).  But I'd welcome an assistant who'd do all of remembering, searching, managing small amount of informatin that are crucial to me (and maybe useful to some friends).

Waiting for Amazon

"Loosely Coupled" Now at Barnes and Noble.. You can now order my new book at bn.com at 20% off. I don't even have a copy yet--mine will arrive on Tuesday. Barnes and Noble says "out of stock," but I know they can get them with 24-hour notice from my distributor. For some reason, Amazon.com doesn't yet show the book. [Doug Kaye: Web Services Strategies]

Remembering that Amazon has a RESTy web services I whipped a quick and dirty python script to ping Amazon to check availability of "Loosely Coupled".  I am now waiting for the email notification from this script.
