Should I get credit counseling?
If you have overwhelming debt and you are sinking deeper and deeper, you might consider credit counseling. The credit counselors to be considered are the non-profit organizations that are funded by creditors, such as the large credit card companies. Will credit counseling look bad? Credit counseling is not nearly so bad as a bankruptcy!
Be sure not to confuse legitimate credit counselors with credit repair companies. The FTC has some information they'd like you to know about credit repair. As they say, you can get your credit report, and you can get credit report errors corrected yourself.
