If you get your credit report online, can you take that to an apartment manager or lender to prove to them you are a good credit risk?

Just about any business, landlord, employer, or financial institution that needs your credit report is going to get it themselves, directly from Experian, Equifax, or Transunion. The main reason they won't accept your copy is that it is possible that you could have altered it. Also, they want a credit report that is up to the minute. If you got your credit report the day before yesterday, for all they know, you might have filed for bankruptcy yesterday.

On the other hand, your online credit report can be useful when talking to potential landlords and lenders. You might be able to get a candid opinion as to whether or not you are likely to qualify. If their answer is "no way", you've saved yourself an unnecessary inquiry on your credit history - which can lower your credit score further.

Here's an article about why a lender, also, is unlikely to accept the credit report pulled by another lender.
