...And Mozquito is serving it to me on a silver platter. I am in frequent contact with the guys over there and the cool things they are doing. Sebastian has given me my latest preview and its pretty cool, opens up some ideas. So first thing is, he gave me a new email address, but this is a special email address. Any email I send to my email address over there gets transformed into an xml document. And since they are the creators of DENG You can add comments to my email in any browser. So before i show the example here is what the first use was that went through my head:

I frequently get emails for help from the community (which I love, keep them coming) But a lot of the time they are the same questions over and over. So imagine if i could just have them automatically go into a faq, that others could comment on. And this is ever so possible with what they call Carmen.

So that is possible right now, but what is coming soon is what really makes it fun (and this is just one of the uses for this system), an RSS feed. So I could give the ability to others to subscribe to my faq/blog/email/archive,etc...simply and easily with this. Right now blog systems support posting through blogs through email, but in Carmen's world, there is no email...just xml. This xml makes up the data. So I could have any number of things going on through this. Make a blog post, add to my faq, or have an email thread. Whatever floats your boat. I could see some very cool things with this in the future and I only wish i had the time to brainstorm about the possibilities. Now for the example, I went ahead and took this post and sent an email to myself that got archived in xml.

You can take a look and comment here. (Note i just sent this through outlook in plain text and it automagically transformed)

Let me know what you think. I love see this type of convergence. Data is data, and what you do with it is up to you...not the application.

Mike Chambers and I have put up a sample using the alpha version of the Flash Communication Framework. Be sure to check out this cool chat application. We will be making the code available as soon as we get passed alpha. Please take the time to leave comments and suggestions as thats the only way things get better.

Please note that this isn't just a chat application. It is an entire framework that hopefully the community will adopt for real time applications. It is built very modular both on the client side and the server side so that you can add and remove features as you please. It also allows the community to build up add-ons that we would never think of.
