David Hoggard challenges the Business Journal's rah-rah reporting on the vested rights of the Bellemeade stadium project.

He also lays out his position on the meaning of the referendum: "I am the only candidate out there saying that the next City Council should consider the vote on October 7th to be a mandate from the voters. Depending on the outcome of the referendum, the Council should take the necessary steps to either move the proposed stadium's construction forward or work to stop it altogether by any legal means available."

Why we still need editors:

Matt Welch's article on weblogs in the Columbia Journalism Review is a good read, although I thought it overlooked the importance of early bloggers like Dave Winer.

But isn't there anyone at the publication billing itself as "America's Premier Media Monitor" who could have saved Welch from this howler: "The movable-type printing press begat the Gutenberg Bible, which begat the Renaissance"?

For those of you keeping score at home, he meant the Reformation. Maybe they don't teach history anymore at Columbia?
