This kind of reminded me of our middle east policy.

Fishing at Lake Snelling with two children under 5:

Not sure why I thought that having three fishing poles along would be less hectic than just having one.  Anyway, I got a zebco pole for my two year old and an "Ugly Stick" for the 4 year old.  I am still wondering how we escaped with all of our eyes still in our heads.  Maggie caught her first fish:  A smallmouth bass.  She was happily watching tiny fish nibble on her corn until the corn disappeared and her line started jerking around.  Then she was holding the pole at arms length and running towards me with a fish flopping around on her hook, screaming laughter.  Frank was happy enough playing with just a casting plug on the end of his line.

Lake snelling is chock full of smallish panfish and carp.  At the beach, they nibble on your knees and nipples.  The drawback is that the fishing area is choked with weeds and algae so casting did not really work.  We just dangled worms and corn off the dock and had plenty of fun.  Next time I won't bring my own rod.
