The goth granddaddies The Cure have decided to release an impressive four singles between now and September, leading up to their thirteenth studio album. It is mighty amazing to think that ol' Robert Smith has cranked out thirteen studio albums, even if a few of the more recent records were less than stellar. The singles will hit shops on the thirteenth of each month, leading up to this thirteenth album... get it?
The May 18 single will be "The Only One," featuring the b-side "NY Trip." The June 18 single will be "Freakshow," with the b-side "All Kinds Of Stuff." We're still waiting on the final information for the July and August 13 singles. The tracks were produced by Robert Smith along with Keith Uddin.
In case you were curious as to which lineup currently comprises The Cure, old school members Robert Smith and bassist Simon Gallup are joined by drummer Jason Cooper as well as guitarist Porl Thompson. Seeing Porl back in the band is definitely a great thing, as his guitar work on Disintegration and Wish was brilliant.

Our good friends over at Suicide Squeeze Records have given us the opportunity to give you, our trusty readers, a chance to preview the brand new 7" single from Black Moth Super Rainbow. The label will be printing up a very limited edition run of 2,000 clear vinyl singles, which will be available starting on May 6. As vinyl collectors ourselves, we love seeing labels still cranking out the wax.
Now, since we want you to purchase the vinyl, we're not going to give you a download of the track, but we can offer up an audio stream so you can hear the a-side before you buy it. Check out "Zodiac Girls" below, and then go grab yourself some collectable wax. C'mon... it always sounds better on a turntable.
The Rebel Wheel from Ottawa will be opening for Poligraf.
Strongly
influenced by progressive rock and drawing from a wide range of genres
going from world beat and jazz fusion to symphonic music and free form
improvisation, the poligrafists propose ornate musical ladders intended
to help fallen angels reach their respective heavens. Intensely
bombastic or deeply introspective, beautifully simple or freakingly
complex, overly dramatic or delightfully playful, the music leaves few
listeners unmoved, as Poligraf uses every trick in the book to make
sure that you get your wings back.
Steeped in dark cinematic
soundscapes and complex, turn-on-a-dime arrangements, The Rebel Wheel
features a frenetic mix of rock aggression, and unpredictable odd-meter
vamps. Originally formed in 1991 as a fusion-based midi ensemble, the
floating lineup has gradually solidified to the current five piece
featuring guitars, keyboards, sax, drums and bass, and the music has
focused more on modern, genre-blending Progressive Rock. At times large
and dissonant, at other times lyrical and direct, "Diagramma" features
strong playing, unique arrangements, unexpected sonics and a
self-contained compositional symmetry.
As subjects for superhero summer movies go, Marvel Comic's Iron Man seems made-to-order. He may lack the deep multimedia adaptation history of a Batman or Superman, and the sprawling cast of a Spider-Man or X-Men, but he's essentially a giant toy that causes explosions.
So it's easy to see what Hollywood sees in the character...

My favorite Neil Diamond memory: In grammar school our class had to sing "Coming to America" to impress some organization that would possibly give our school money. I can still remember the hand gestures. I don't remember if we got the cash.
