FBI Email Tapping Actually Hampers Terrorism Investigation

The FBI's Carnivore email surveillance system actually hampered the FBI's terrorism investigation by tapping and recording much more email than it was supposed to. Though Carnivore's information is further filtered by a human technical agent and in this case no email was lost, Carnivore's lack of specificity threatens to contaminate otherwise legally-collected evidence.

John Walker Lindh's lawyers are being limited by their judge from conducting face-to-face interviews with Taliban 'detainees', who are fundamental to his defense in his conspiracy trial.

Execution for Youthful Offenders Questioned

Two men who had committed murders when they were 17 have been arguing against their death sentences on the grounds that execution for youthful crimes is cruel and unusual. Christopher Simmons of Missouri was granted a stay based on a pending Supreme Court case while Napoleon Beazley of Texas was denied a stay and was executed.
