Notes: notes for next week
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
ILA Legislative Day is coming up on March 2nd in
Des
Moines.
Legislative Day events begin at 2:30PM with a
briefing at the State
Library.
That's immediately followed by a reception with legislators from
4:00—6:00PM in the
State Law Library, Capitol
Building. x:http://www.iowalibraryassociation.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=13
As you know, the last 4 years of
cuts to LSA state appropriation have had seriously debilitating effects on LSA & SLI
budgets. Again, we count on local library
staff and trustees to help communicate why the
LSAs matter; how LSA training,
services, and programs make a difference in your libraries.
HINT from the field:
Public library staff can leverage their trips to
Des Moines for the Legislative Reception on March 2 by following up on State
Library offer of a free lunch, $15 to offset some
travel costs, and 1 hour CE for participation in a Webjunction focus group.
Times are: 9:30 to
11:30 a.m. Webjunction Users or 12-2 p.m. for Webjunction non users
If the link doesn't work, go to http://www.silo.lib.ia.us/ and
look under News and Announcements for "Public Library Directors and
Staff Invited to WebJunction Focus Group."
