Results Published of Meeting Considering WIPO Second Domain Name Process

A decision was taken by WIPO Member States, at their meeting from September 24 to October 3, 2001, to subject the Report of the Second WIPO Internet Domain Name Process to a comprehensive analysis by the Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (SCT). The SCT has now held two Special Sessions for this purpose. The report of the second session has just been issued with recommendations for specific actions to treat the issues described in the Report. The substantive results of this process are perhaps not as interesting as how the results will eventually be implemented; a topic broached upon in Section 2 of the Report. Will it be "self-regulation", the "ICANN Contractual Model" or "The Treaty"?
