Damn! Saturday at Caspar was a blast. Gene Parsons played that pedal steel and brought the dry desert wind of Yucca Valley into the room......just like that (sound of fingers snapping) He hadn't played the beast for a while but it came alive with the familiarity of a good obeying dog. I should say Dog. More respect. And as usual Johnny Bush played solid as a rock. Gene and John switched toward the end and as Gene played bass Johnny blew some amazing sax. Now Scott Evans on the drums was a special treat. The guy doesn't play out much, but I must say he nails the beat to the floor. The guy is flawless. A real pleasure. We had almost no rehearsal, and with what little we had we only went through minor changes and grooves. Well, live, Scott took control and he let us know when the song was gonna end. He did it with some lead-in type beats and lo and behold (as Dylan said) there was the pre-fab ending....always at the perfect spot. So....Damn!.....love playing with those cats...more to come. Also great news, on Saturday July 5th my brother will be coming up here to Fort Bragg with another old friend/drummer Bobby Bednar and we will play the Salmon Bar B Q in Fort Bragg during the day and later that evening we will play at the Caspar Inn........
