State accepts $70 million bailout for Medicaid (Washington)
News Tribune story on the acceptance by Washington state officials of a $70 million federal bailout for Medicaid, less than a third of what they wanted. "Despite the setback," notes the story, "they say they won't make drastic cuts - at least for now."

New NIMH Director Named
NIH press release on the appointment of Thomas R. Insel, M.D., as Director of the National Institute of Mental Health. Dr. Insel is currently Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Director of the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia, and is expected to begin his appointment in mid-November.
