A year without cigarettes
Today marks a year since I last had a cigarette. Actually, it is 366 days, 3 hours, 31 minutes and 7 seconds since my last cigarette. 12,815 cigarettes not smoked. $2,882.25 and 3 months, 7 days, 21 hours of my life saved. But who's counting? :-)
Quitting smoking after 24 years was one of the hardest things I have ever done, and one of the smartest (just as starting was one of the most stupid). I couldn't have stayed quit without support from my family - you know who you are -- thank you.
Advice to would be quitters (almost every smoker wishes he or she wasn't one):
- Take a class. Even if you are a loner by nature, it is easier to quit as part of a group than by yourself.
- If you are a net geek, the best one place on the net to get information and help quitting smoking is http://www.quitnet.com. Extremely highly recommended. It could save your life if you are a smoker. geek.
- Finally, not a day goes by when I don't crave a cigarette at some point during the day, but now the cravings are daily, not every 10 minutes, and they go away.
Good luck.
