First, the good news. You don't have to be a kid or have watched the original Shrek to immensely enjoy the sequel.
The bad news?...If you did see the first movie watching the second installment will be like deja vu, all over again.
Despite wondrous animation, characters that bubble over with charm and numerous brilliant jokes and parodies, Shrek 2 has one glaring flaw. The story line is almost identical to the original. While the message, in the era of T.V. shows like the Swan, remains important it is still disappointing that this second installment has the characters stuck in a morality time loop.
There will no doubt be a Shrek 3. Let's hope the characters will be allowed to explore and experience other emotional quandaries.
What Shrek 2 lacks in originality it makes up for with a mix wholesome charm and satirical wit that can be enjoyed by all.
