MOVIE - FREAKY FRIDAY - Review Rating $$$$$ $1/2 (OUT OF 10)

STARRING -Jamie Lee Curtis (Tess Coleman), Lindsay Lohan (Anna Coleman:), Chad Murray (Jake), Mark Harmon (Ryan), Ryan Malgarini (Harry) & Harold Gould (Grandpa).

DIRECTOR - Mark S. Waters (The House of Yes, Head Over Heels)

A remake of the 1977 Disney film starring Jodie Foster which itself was based on the book by Mary Rodgers. Disney also produced a T.V. movie remake of this film, starring Shelley Long, for its Wonderful World of Disney series.

Its a little hard to get too excited about a film that has been around the block as many times as Freaky Friday. That being said, Freaky Friday has several things going for it:

1) decent performances, especially by Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan;

2) a concept that is inherently humorous (the body switching between mother and daughter) and a script smart enough to fully exploit the built-in laughs and;

3) it was the best movie released in August of 2003 (though that's not as much of an accomplishment as it may first appear).

The only "yucky" moment in the film is the teenage boyfriend's apparent willingness to date his girlfriend's mother. Personality switch or not, this behavior is highly questionable and would no doubt freak out a typical female teenager.

Freaky Friday is a "cute" generational comedy that is well acted and has numerous "hit the nail on the head" humourous moments.

Running time - 93 minutes.
