MOVIE - UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN - Review Rating $$$$$ $1/2 (OUT OF 10)

STARRING - Diane Lane (Frances Mayes), Raoul Bova (Marcello), Sandra Oh (Patti), Vincent Riotta (Mr. Martini) & Lindsay Duncan (Katherine).

DIRECTOR/WRITER - Audrey Wells

Based on the book by Frances Mayes entitled Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy.

Under The Tuscan Sun is a fairly standard "there is life after 40" and "everyone deserves a second chance" type of movie. There are some humorous sequences but for the most part the script is worn out cliché piled on worn out cliché.

Diane Lane (Unfaithful) once again turns in a fine performance. There is, however, not a whole lot to her character so don't expect this role to garner her another Oscar nomination. The rest of the cast plays their limited parts convincingly even though their characters are far from compelling.

The lack of a compelling story provides the viewer with very little reason to become overly concerned, or surprised about, how things turn out in the end. That being said, there is nothing overly offensive about the story. If your in the mood for light Harlequin Romance type fluff then Under The Tuscan Sun is the movie for you.

Running time - 102 minutes
