Movie:
Dawn of the Dead
Date: 1978 Category: Horror Director: George A. Romero Big Stars: David Emge, Ken Foree, Gaylen Ross |
After the stark and low budget Night of the Living Dead, Romero continues the Dead series with more gore, more action and even more satire as the zombies take to the mall. And once again, who are the bigger monsters, the ones we see or the ones we become? A mysterous plauge causes the recently dead to rise from their graves and scour the countryside for living flesh. Very violent, gory, graphic and shocking. While the pancake make-up blue of the zombies may seem cheesy by today's standards, Dawn did innovate and employ some of the more graphic effects that have shown up in movies throughout the 1980's and 90's. There are many different cuts of this movie including a few that go under the name Zombie in European markets. The different director's cuts make this a must have for collectors. |
