Spiderman director Sam Raimi's sequel/remake of Evil Dead, and second in the Evil Dead series. In this incarnation, Raimi trades in scares for a Three Stooges approach to horror. The plot, identical to the first, finds our hapless hero Ash (Campbell) back at the haunted cabin in the woods. People show up and rapidly get possessed. But it's all in the execution. Ash fights a head, his own hand, and Ted Raimi in a foam evil-grandmother-monster costume . Someone bites down on a disembodied eyeball. And then the fun begins. The lesson learned: Don't just read from the Necronomicon, bad stuff happens. Army of Darkness is the third in a series that spawned board games, video games, RPG's, card games made Bruce Campbell a B-movie star. |
