This acclaimed nightmare comedy almost broke director Terry Gilliam, best known for Time Bandits and Monty Python. It's the story of everyman Sam Lowry (Price) trying to survive in a bureacratic paper choked society. There's obvious references to 1984, The Trail, and other dystopias. Glorious fantasy and stark reality merge in a triumph of set design and a melding of the 20th century. |
