Movie: Being John Malkovich
Date: 1999 Category: Weird Director: Spike Jonze Big Stars: John Cusack, Cameron Diaz, John Malkovich |
This very weird comedy is the debut for director Spike Jonze. Writer Charlie Kaufman and Jonze also colaborated on 2002's Adaptation which features a small snapshot of Being John Malkovich. So, the writer and director aren't afraid of meta story lines and a self-referencing movie. High-strung puppeteer Craig (Cusack) is forced to take an office clerk job on the seventh-and-a-half floor of odd building. There, he discovers a portal, literally, into real-life actor John Malkovich. Shifting identities and wacky hijinks ensue and then you're spit out on a New Jersey freeway after 15 minutes. |
