Donnie Darko, a junior in highschool and native to Middlesex, Iowa, suffers from one of many mental disorders. He is haunted by a giant bunny rabbit named Frank who tells him the "World" will end within the month. Meeting with Frank one night prevents him from meeting a fatal death with a jet engine that crashes through his room, allowing him to live. Is Donnie Darko science fiction? Teen drama? Comedy? Or just messing with your mind? A dead-on picture of the time around the 1988 presidential election, Donnie Darko deals mostly with time and destiny. Oh, and did we mention the giant bunny? |
