Movie: A Clockwork Orange
Date: 1971 Category: Dark Director: Stanley Kubrick Big Stars: Malcolm McDowell, Patrick Magee, Warren Clarke |
In the Britian of the near future, a sadistic punk, Alex (McDowell) leads a gang on nightly rape and murder sprees, then is captured and becomes the subject of a grim experiment to eridicate his violent tendencies in this extrodinary adaptation of Anthony Burgess's controversial novel. A Clockwork Orange has been a college campus favorite since it's release and deals with the themes of society's revenge, free will, and youth. With dense and unique slang, urgent filmmaking, a scewering of traditional attitudes and the second best, and most twisted, version and of Singing in the Rain on film, A Clockwork Orange is a must see. In British slang, A Clockwork Orange means literally "a mechanical animal." |
