LWN.net Closing Down
comment [] 11:09:38 PM

Storms rolling in tonight. I can usually tell it long before it gets here because when the pressure changes, my headaches increase. Sure enough, the relief was short-lived. Still, at least there was a day or two of relief in there.

Next surgery two weeks from today. I'll be so doggone glad when it's done. I'm sick of being sick already, sheesh. You all are probably sick of my snot too, by now. Sorry. I won't write any more about my stupid head. Headaches are boring, tedious.

Japan in the Nineties: happening again?. In the mid-Nineties, while the U.S. economy was still in a protracted boom, or bubble (whichever you prefer), the Japanese economy was entering a decade-long slump. This slump began with the bursting of a major speculative bubble. It could happen here as well.

License to Hack: Black Hats win.. A pair of tame Hollywood Congressmen are preparing to introduce federal legislation which, if passed, would not only give copyright holders license to hack your PC but also shields them from lawsuits and penalties if they screw things up and delete, say, your last five years of tax returns, or that novel you've been working on. This is not only a Good Thing, this is a Great Thing!
