One minor plot detail fascinated me. The designer drug of choice seems to be something called "Narrow In", and while they don't really describe it, it seems likely that what it does is let you focus in on exactly one experience, or memory, while excluding everything else. You could, for example, keep reliving
The addictive potential of such a drug is really obvious, and scary. I know enough computer people already who can focus on things to the detriment of their own well being. Dorothea Salo's essay Intensity touches on this trait.
