Okay, I knew that printer manufacturers regularly lied about the specifications of their printers, and I knew that they had taken to shipping special underfilled cartridges with new printers so as to stick you almost immediately with the need to buy an expensive new cartridge. Name brand printer cables have always been ridiculously overpriced. But this is the first I've heard about shipping a printer without a black cartridge, so that they get a double hit: you use up your undersized
color cartridge in trying to print a pseudo-black.
