Lawyers, Hotels and Money

Today I grabbed an old copy of the New York Times from September 29th when I was having coffee. It had an interesting story about the lawsuits and complaints brought by hotel developers against Marriott, for allegedly mismanaging the hotel and self-dealing. The most amusing complaint was this one, though:

The Flatley lawsuit...complained that Marriott booked a convention for fans of the fantasy game Dungeons and Dragons at a deeply-discounted price -- a move that the owner's lawyer said would make it harder to attract the professional groups that the hotel had hoped to draw. "Once you get those guys, yo're not going to get the orthopedic surgeon's convention," said William E. Wallace III, a lawyer at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy who represents Flatley.

By now, the article is available only in the NY Times for-pay archives, so no link, sorry.   Permanent Link
