Pine Bluff is UW's working observatory, having long since replaced the Washburn Observatory on campus. Washburn has become far too light-polluted to be useful as a research observatory, but continues to serve educational needs by its periodic use for classes and public observing sessions. Some years ago, during the meetings of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (boy were they lost!), I got to look through their 15.6 inch refractor. At one point, this was the third largest refractor in the US, though admittedly that point was during the 19th century.
