William Gibson has a new novel out this week, Pattern Recognition. Technically, it's set last year, in 2002, but his style and focus make it feel like the future when his characters open up their iBooks and use Google or Hotmail.
Meanwhile, over on LiveJournal, I find myself tracking the lives of friends, acquaintances, and interesting folks who use LiveJournal for various purposes. I joined LiveJournal in part because of a friend who lives overseas, but find that it's just as important in keeping me in touch with the lives of several people who live here in Madison.
No helicars or jetpacks yet, but a lof of the future seems to be here if you know where to look.
