shut up: be happy.
As is often the case, you have to go overseas to get decent reporting about political events in America; our so-called liberal media barely dares mention anything that opposes the views of the chickenhawks in Washington.
Today's example: though the Grammy report in the New York Times does make some mention of short comments about the war by various performers, they say nothing about the threats to the performers. I had to read the UK Guardian to find out that performers were warned that if they commented on the war, their microphones might be switched off if they tried to make "political gestures".
