we come in peace - set phasers on kill
Continuing in the sudden and unexpected swerve of this blog to the Star Trek universe, a conversation between John M. Ford and Lioness, on the nature of the Klingon language:
I just asked Mr. Ford, and he said that "passive" would probably translate to one word meaning "waiting for an opening."
Although Mr. Ford does not maintain his own website or blog, his comments, thoughts and poetry occasionally appear on someone else's site. Lioness's LiveJournal, Theresa Nielsen-Hayden's Making Light and Patrick Nielsen-Hayden's Electrolite are three good sites worth watching in their own right, and finding his stuff there on occasion is a wonderful bonus.
