Spanish sculptor Eduardo Chillida died Monday afternoon in his home at Mount Igueldo in San Sebastián, after a long illness that had him hospitalized the past month of March. Chillida had Alzheimer’s disease, which had him hidden from the public’s view just after the inauguration of the Chillida-Leku museum in October 2000. The body of the sculptor will be cremated later Tuesday and his ashes will be taken to the Chillida-Leku Museum (ArtDaily The first Art Newspaper on the net).
