[...] It's good to have lawyers and technologists of this caliber urging courts to deliver the law via rss/xml. As a public official who has implemented the measures Ernie recommends for one court of last resort, I know from personal experience that court environments can be difficult places to implement new technological ideas. The upside is that I've seen real tangible benefits from using blog technology to deliver public information. I've seen rss.xml feeds appear ranked high in the referrer logs for our official court site, and seen traffic to our court site triple through the various weblog pages I publish. A recent AP story recognized that blogs are good for courts. VeriSign -- Credit Where DueI called VeriSign this morning. I spent a couple of hours last night rounding up all my recent letters from them about account changes, logins, and such, as well as all my domain paperwork. Turns out I actually have two domains still registered with them (glad I checked.)I had previously tried to login to the VeriSign site and make changes to my errant e-mail address myself with no success. But this morning I got a helpful customer service agent on the phone and after about 20 minutes she had successfully changed the e-mail address and corrected my login info so it would work. I went back later and verified the changes. Sho'nuff, my e-mail address is right. But I still can't consolidate the two remaining accounts under one sign-in because one is under a reseller/partner setup (Interland). No matter. Both the domains will be moved soon anyway. This is just way too much hassle for the money. Thanks for the helpful service, VeriSign, but it really is too little, too late.
