Strategic Sustainability, and other worthy themes of our time

Tuesday, October 25, 2005

I just posted (well, yesterday) a long piece at Worldchanging.com on TreePeople, Integrative Design, and "Trans-Agency Resources for Environmental and Economic Sustainability", about 'a hopeful signpost to the future of water, land use, and Los Angeles.'

'Nobody's in charge of integration,' Lipkis concluded, 'so we have dis-integration, and cities are disintegrating. So you need to demand this from your city. We don't all have the skill to do integration, but the technology is there.'

'Lipkis' is TreePeople founder Andy Lipkis, and TREES is in the process of cutting water use in LA in half, through a brilliant application of integrative design, integrative economics and integrative politics.

Check it out.

Email and web site have been down for about 24 hours. Verio apparently didn't expect a hurricane, lost their backup power systems, and our business. We're back up now, but if you sent me any email since Sunday night, you might want to re-send. (Very strange trying to get through a business day without email...)
